Olivia Newton-John - R.I.P.
I am a child of the 80s, and I FREAKING LOVE IT. I also realize that the 80s were long ago, and my favorite artists are old like me. I was heartbroken yesterday when I heard the news that Olivia Newton-John passed away from F'ing Cancer. I, for one, am done with this stupid disease, and I am sure it will never be cured, even though some sleepy old politicians promise it will be.
What can you say about ONJ, she was one of a kind. The first time I heard her sing was when my mom used to listen to WLAK 93.9 in Chicago. They were on all the classic ballads, it was then I fell in love with her voice. Olivia was a fantastic singer with five number-one singles and ten Top Ten hits.
I was lucky enough to be in Jim Jacob's play Grease in High School. Needless to say, we all watched the movie Grease about a hundred times. What can you say about Olivia's performance? She was a fantastic actress and brought the character of Sandy to live on the big screen.
I have come to the realization that I will have more days like yesterday as all my favorite 80s artists are now in their 70s.
Time sucks - Try and enjoy every minute.
Thanks for the music and movies, Olivia. We will miss you.
Jimmy
